Coaching has been utilized in a variety of technical fields. This toolkit contains guidelines for effectively coaching literacy teachers in Afghanistan, and is accompanied by a series of six annexed tools that support coaches to apply the guidelines when doing their work in the field. The toolkit was developed for use in the Afghanistan Lowalee! / Afghanistan Reads! community literacy and libraries program of Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan (CW4WAfghan). The coaching program is intended to be delivered by a team of coaches, who are each assigned small groups of teachers. Each coach travels several times to meet with their assigned teachers one on one. The guide and annexes walk them through each step of a coaching program, and also provide further reading and background materials for teachers to learn more about coaching techniques used in education.
