Differential Calculus

In this lecture, we will define derivatives for functions on vector spaces. We will show that all the familiar properties of derivatives — the mean value theorem, chain rule, etc— hold in any vector space. We will primarily focus onRn, but we also discuss infinite dimensional spaces (will we need to differentiate in them to study optimal control later).
